treatments necessary to achieve desired results. Although
side effects are uncommon, your Visage consultant will notify
you if you are prone to any side effects during this evaluation
phase.
The Treatment - Long Island Laser Hair Removal
The area to be treated is first cleansed and shaven. Controlled
pulses of light are then dispersed by the laser to safely
penetrate skin and are absorbed by the unwanted hair follicles.
Hair follicles that are in the growth phase absorb the heat
of the laser, which discourages and finally destroys the potential
for re-growth of unwanted hair. It is sometimes necessary
for a patient to undergo more than one laser hair
removal treatment because this procedure is most
effective on hair follicles that are in the growth phase.
Laser Hair Removal treatment creates a mild sting that is well-tolerated by most patients. No local
anesthesia or pain medication is necessary. At times topical anesthetics may be used in
sensitive areas.
Post Laser Hair Removal Treatment Procedures
Post treatment includes a cleansing of the area treated. Sun block is also applied to the patient.
Possible side effects
Upon treatment a candidate may experience blistering, soft scabbing, redness or a
darkening or lightening of the skin. These conditions quickly disappear within a few days.
Patients must avoid exposure to the sun for 2 to 4 weeks prior to and after treatment in
order to minimize the threat of difficulties.
